The desire for second homes in the popular Balearic island of Mallorca is on the rise after many people are starting to seek a different lifestyle. Zoë from Engel & Völkers Soller our local property partner explains, "People have come to the conclusion that life is for living. They want a good quality of life and prefer to spend their time in a nice place like Mallorca. We have the weather, mountains and sea which makes it a pleasure to live here but this high expectation for quality living is driving up the demand.

People are now very savvy and know what they are looking for. Finding properties with a lot of charm is rare which adds to the demand and surge in prices. So instead, we help seek potential, we know the market so well but many people are taken back by the undertaking of renovations.".

So with growing demand and prices of homes expected to increase on this highly sought after Mediterranean island, where does one even begin on their search?

It's great to be back in sunny Mallorca again to spend time with our partners and of course check out the homes in person.

Our local property partners are an extension of our team. We speak on a very frequent basis and do online property viewings at least once a week. This new way of working has meant we've strengthened our relationships even more during the pandemic. We know about properties before they even go on the market so it's great that we have the option to see the properties first, especially as the demand has significantly increased in the past weeks. Luckily the demand is a lot stronger for ready to move in properties than the ones in need of renovation!

We have a lot of properties to go through and many properties don't even make the viewings list. Mallorca is such a popular destination with great international connections, it's one of our hero locations.

We're currently on the search to purchase the next two Mallorca properties for the Signature and Family Collections but we tend to think five Collections ahead because it takes time to go through the purchasing process and we can't be looking only when we need to buy or else we might miss out! There's a constant stream of properties across all the August home locations.

We're in Mallorca for a few weeks and our team have 60+ viewings. We're experienced with renovations, architecture, construction and interior design so we know exactly what we're looking for and not. Most of 60+ properties we've already seen online but it's important we inspect them in person. We'll compile a shortlist which we'll visit again at least another half a dozen times over the search process to ensure it meets our expectations. With property and real-estate deeply rooted in our experience, it comes second nature for us to go about this with our team as if we were buying our own homes." explains Athé.
