When you imagine ski chalets I'm sure both wooden paneling and panoramic views come to mind. While one of these can never get tired - there is a real skill to making a cosy, stylish and functional home way up in the mountains.
The design team at August took a place with incredible potential and turned it into a true winter wonderland. First up, the open plan living space. Once you enter the property you are greeted by your living and dining area. This was somewhat imposed by a large staircase leading to a small mezzanine, something that was a little out of proportion. The solution? The removal of the bulky staircase and addition of a sleek space-saving staircase, as well as extending the mezzanine to make a cozy sleeping nook.
This subtle yet significant change opened up the dining to create a comfortable space, allowing up to 8 to enjoy traditional savoyard meals while looking onto the mountains opposite through the full height balcony doors.
The lounge had always been centered around the gorgeous open fireplace, but the addition of stylish furniture, plenty of seating options, coffee tables and some plush rugs transformed the space.
Through the summer months when you don't want the fire on, throw open all the doors and bask in the sunshine while looking at the lush greenery of the mountains.
Deep royal tones were used throughout the home to make it exceptionally warm and inviting. Greens, reds and deep blues were followed through into the bedrooms.
Downstairs are three double bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. The principal bedroom leads onto another spacious terrace to enjoy morning coffee or the sunset. Walk-in showers replaced the enclosed spaces of previous and each bedroom gets its own personality from the rich jewel tones painted onto the wood paneling.
Every August home showcases unique architecture, superior craftsmanship, and curated design. Explore these breathtaking living spaces, reflecting a blend of comfort, sophistication, and timeless elegance.
