We are delighted to introduce you to the founding members of the recently launched Premium Collection - Anne and Paul. With more time and flexibility to travel and enjoy their lifestyle, joining the August Premium Collection was a simple decision after having already experienced the Signature Collection.

Here is why co-owning holiday homes with August make sense for them.

With our children all grown up and us approaching retirement, we have more flexibility to travel and stay in different homes throughout the year. We already own a timeshare, so the August concept felt familiar but actually miles ahead of our current expectations when it comes to holidaying abroad. Once we looked into the August concept, we quickly realised this is something that is actually better than a Timeshare because the
co-ownership model opens up a world of possibilities. Especially as we value the comfort of familiar places that feel like home.

We travel a lot with friends and were able to invite them to our August home on one of our trips. They were very complimentary and even asked to come again! It’s no wonder as the house itself in the South of France exceeded our expectations in terms of design, interior finish and quality; it was great to be able to try something new while still feeling like we were living in our own home. We were happy to bring our friends along because it's always nice to get their feedback.

Being a part of August feels different than Timeshare because it’s a diminishing asset. There’s a lot of care taken by August - the selection process for homes in sought-after destinations, the way they renovate and design the homes and knowing that we’re only
co-owning with a small number of families means we’re investing in our lifestyle and future. It allows us to continue to develop and enhance the experience and properties over time with the other co-owners, just as we would in any home we own, making us feel like it's truly ours.

We understand the co-ownership concept, and one of the anxieties you get is that you may feel you’re not going to have enough allocated weeks, but what August has done with finding the different families and profiles means the allocated weeks for most people is more than we need. With the terrific August locations, there’s life all year round and they are easy to reach from the airport so we’re looking forward to holidaying throughout the year.

Apart from the weekend skiing trips in Chamonix, we enjoy walking and cycling in Mallorca, as Paul is an avid cyclist. Together we will hike the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and we're looking forward to discovering the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany and the Cotswolds.

We love to go up into the hills, to the various neighbouring villages and see the surrounding sights which is important for us, along with being close to activities at the same time. 

We also love good food and it’s fantastic that every location has its own mini-hub of food culture, when we visited Valbonne we were pleasantly surprised with the great variety of food options and cuisines to choose from.

When the conversation came up about the Premium Collection, it made sense. The August foundations and principles of the Signature Collection still applies, but to the slightly larger and high-value properties. Essentially the Premium Collection is more for those who would be stepping from a home that you live in into a home that you go on holiday in, both of similar quality. Such as stepping up from the Ski apartment to a Chalet in the French Alps.

Although the Premium Collection's overall investment cost is higher, it represents excellent value for money when compared to the capital and ongoing costs of purchasing and owning a single property. We are looking forward to staying in the Premium homes, but we are still very excited to be a part of the Signature Collection because we understand that identifying properties, locations, and the required number of shareholders takes time. As a result, we're pleased that these two collections will run concurrently, and we'll transition to the Premium once it is completed. Overall, the individual collections provide a lot of flexibility in terms of seasonal dates, so we find that one collection is more than enough for us.

For us it was the idea of being able to continue to stay flexible with August for the many more years to come. 10 years' time we may think, we've had enough of the locations; we can then swap into a different collection with different locations.
