What to do

Menton is a lovely village to visit at any time of year, but really comes alive during certain times of year.

Thanks to its particularly mild climate, Menton was in 1928 the first citrus fruit producer on the continent. With a private exhibition of flowers and citrus fruits in the gardens of the Hotel Riviera hosted by a local hotelier. With the success of this along with the carnival of Menton, The Lemon Festival was born to celebrate oranges and lemons throughout the city. This festival is held every year at the end of winter, usually between February and March. With over 180 tons of citrus fruits used and two weeks of work required to create the stunning parade floats. There are many speicalised stores to hero the citrus fruits. Lemon ice cream, cream, alcohol, soap, and syrup etc.
