Whether you’re interested in holidays filled with culture, sports activities, walking adventures or need a double dose of luxury living, Mallorca will offer everything you need. As the largest of Spain’s blissful Balearic Islands, Mallorca is a distillation of all that makes Mediterranean life so alluring.

With its classy capital of Palma, honey-hued hilltop hideaways, impressive hiking trails, idyllic beach coves, and sleepy harbourside villages, it’s not at all difficult to see why this Balearic beauty is popular and one of our August Collections' hero destinations.

We share with you our favourite places on the island's northern coast, not too far from the August homes, perfect for you to spend some time here when you're ready to travel!

SÓLLER

Quaintly situated in the heart of the ‘valley of oranges’ or ‘valley of gold’ is one of our favourite authentic towns, northwest of Mallorca - Sóller. Dating back to the 19th century, you'll notice a lot of French influence with its abundance of citrus groves in the valley popular with the French. Many locals also went to work in France and returned with their fortunes duly made to build some of the properties that grace this town today. You can expect a relaxed vibe in this fairly untouched by modernisation town. There are numerous bars and cafés that are easily accessible from the main square – Plaza de la Constitución and an appreciation of art throughout this town. The restored Art Nouveau building, Can Prunera, is a must-visit - housing a fine permanent collection of art (including Kandinksy, Picasso, Warhol, local artists Miquel Barceló and Francesca Martí).

PORT DE SÓLLER

Situated only 5 kilometers from the town of Sóller, of which it is also the port, Port de Sóller has one of the most beautiful horseshoe harbours in all of Europe. On one side it opens up to the balmy Mediterranean sea, while on the other it is surrounded by the magnificent Tramuntana mountains. From Sóller you can hop on the old wooden tram and wind your way through olive groves and endless rows of lemon and orange trees to Port de Sóller. Port de Sóller has long been known as a culinary hotspot. Especially famous are the locally produced delicacies made using the staple product - oranges. Jams, tarts and marmalades of Port de Sóller are a must-try.

Make sure to stop by Agapanto, one of the oldest restaurants in town and the best place to taste the local Mallorcan cuisine.

DEIÀ

First glimpse of the dreamy village of Deià always takes a little of the breath away. Round a mountain bend to catch sight of this dreamy village stacked high above the Mediterranean and you instantly see why it is loved by artists and writers craving escape. For a super quaint courtyard and an affordable fresh homemade cooking, we love Restaurante Sa Vinya. Take a seat outside and enjoy the friendly service. If you are in the mood to treat yourself, enjoy a seafood banquet with heart-poundingly beautiful sea views at Ca’s Patro March Restaurant.

SA CALOBRA

One of the great joys of life on an island like Mallorca is simply hopping in a car and hitting the road (or on a bicycle) to find the island’s secret beach coves not to mention the windy roads. Some of our favourites are huddled away at the end of a gorge made by the Torrent de Pareis. The beaches of Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis are remote and serene stretches of azure waters and untouched nature.

FORNALUTX

Fornalutx, Mallorca's most adorable stone-built village, was once crowned ‘Spain’s Prettiest Village’. It is a silent, peaceful village with only one street accessible to cars. Its location, surrounded by rocky mountains, makes it a popular stop for walkers and cyclists.

VALLDEMOSSA

Nestled amongst the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, Valldemossa is nuzzled away in a lush valley of olive and almond trees and is just 17km from Palma. With its butterscotch stone buildings and flowerpot-filled streets, it feels very much like an escape from the modern world. It is also perfect for fans of the outdoors with heaps of thrilling activities from rock climbing to hiking and mountain biking.  Make sure not to miss the 13th-century monastery, which was once home to the great composer Frederik Chopin.
