Aiguillette des Houches is a summit in the Carlaveyron Nature Reserve that rises to an altitude of 2,285m and dominates the eponymous village below. It is much less widely known than Lac Blanc. This summit marks the western limit of the Massif des Aiguilles Rouges and provides spectacular views of the Massif du Mont-Blanc and the Massif des Fiz to the north.Aside from the breathtaking scenery, the site is a biodiversity hotspot: the Carlaveyron meadows are punctuated by small refuge ponds that include various species. The route to reach the Aiguillette des Houches starts at the parking lot of Parc de Merlet (Animal Park) located south of Chamonix. The route follows a loop that connects the Refuge de Bellachat. Before descending again through the Chalets de Chailloux to reach the car park.Allow five hours to complete this hike.Difficulty: IntermediateAltitude: 2,285 mAscent: 3 hours 15 minDescent: 1 hour 45 minElevation Gain: 910 metersRound-trip: 9,1 kmRestrictions: Dogs (even on a leash) and gathering prohibited.
